A Little Blog from Main Street

A Little Blog from Main Street

This morning, I was greeted in our shop on Haworth’s cobbled street by Heather, who has worked with us for over 3 years now. She is our Maileg Mouse expert, knows everything there is to know about mice, their accessories, bunnies, teddies, the list goes on. Heather and I were overjoyed to see the Maileg rep Richard last week and find out about all the amazing new products being launched over the next few months. Needless to say, we sat like children in the candy store to order as soon as Richard left the building! I am hoping lots of lovely Maileg arrives in time for the holidays so you can come to see and possibly add to your collection.

Other visitors have been publishing reps who have showed me the new books coming in August, again my shopping basket was full of goodies. Keep an eye on our signed, special editions categories on Wave of Nostalgia’s website!

We held our book club this week, meeting on the first Monday monthly at the shop or on zoom. We are reading the backlist of The Women’s Prize for Fiction. A lively discussion was held, May We Be Forgiven by A M Holmes was our read in June. We gave it a 5/10. July we are reading Eimear McBride – A Girl is a Half-Formed Thing, to discuss at the August meeting. If you would like to know more call into the shop or give us a ring.

Today has been a planning/organising day getting ready for our events in July. Do have a look at our events page to book your ticket now as events do sell out, tomorrow night when we talk all things Bronte is a total SELL OUT!

Then to round the day off I had the pleasure to chat to BCB (Bradford Community Radio) live at 5.45pm. https://listenagain.bcbradio.co.uk/?pgdate=20250708

To listen again type in 8th July at the top right and then choose Bradford and Beyond. So wonderful to be a friend of BCB radio, chat with the presenters, spread the fabulous things happening in our local communities, especially or author events. I made a lovely vegan butternut squash casserole for tea, pegged out the washing and managed to cut the lawn,  I haven’t cut it since No Mow May, it took a while but looks super now.

So there you have it, some of the things achieved today with the help of Heather, Ian and Willow our book shop dog.
