Up here on t'moors we're celebrating being a Finalist for an incredible fifth consecutive year in the prestigious Independent Bookshop of the Year Awards (North England Region). Diane is chuffed ‘We’re absolutely delighted with this accolade, especially when we’re up against such tough competition from great Bookshops in Manchester, Liverpool, York and Newcastle let alone those in West Yorkshire. We’d like to thank everyone who has supported us, especially anyone who has been involved in our community-based activities over the last year, which I know the judges were particularly impressed with. We find out if we have won on March 10th, which coincidentally is the day of a really exciting author event, too!
On Tuesday 10th March at 7PM, in St Michael and All Angels' (Haworth Parish Church) and on Zoom we welcome iconic Crime Writer Elly Griffiths, award-winning author of 33 novels, including the beloved Ruth Galloway series. Elly will be reading from and discussing The Killing Time, the second thrilling novel in her new series featuring Detective Ali Dawson. Ali leads a unit that investigates cases so cold her team must travel to the distant past to solve them. She once more finds herself in dark and dangerous corners of Victorian London in pursuit of villains. Signed copies of the Special Edition first edition of The Killing Time will be available at the event or for preorder here: The Killing Time Tickets are £10 and are available from the shop or online (button below). Attendees will be eligible for 10% off all books in the shop (or online if joining by Zoom) at the event.
On Wednesday 25th at 7PM, join novelist Brigid Lowe in the shop or by Zoom in launching her terrific fantastically mythical historical novel, The Bloody Branch. Calling out the feminist, ecological spirit of ancient Celtic myths for the first time, The Bloody Branch leads the weird spirits of prehistory through the flower-spangled forest of mediaeval romance – and lets them loose upon the fears and obsessions of the present.
On Wednesday 1st April at 7PM in the shop or by Zoom, Ava Glass, dubbed ‘The new queen of spy fiction’ by The Guardian will be launching her new page-turning, atmospheric thriller, The Hiding Season: Maya is not alone on the mountain. Someone else is there to kill. When Maya finds a body, she must run for her life. One man tells her that he can save her. But is he everything he claims to be? For both the Brigid Lowe and Eva Glass events tickets are £5 and are available from the shop or online. Attendees in person will receive a free drink - wine, tea or coffee and ALL attendees will be eligible for 10% off all books in the shop or online.
