The Sowerby Bridge Industrial Heritage Walk 2 by Christopher Goddard
Starting at Sowerby Bridge railway station, this six-mile walk visits Copley, Wainhouse Tower and Warley Clough, as well as many fascinating historic sites in between. Alongside the hand-drawn map is a wealth of information about the industrial history of this overlooked part of the Calder Valley.
Sowerby Bridge has retained a remarkable amount of the industrial fabric that helped put this part of the Calder Valley on the map in the late 18th and 19th centuries. As well as many significant mill complexes, this route takes in the Calder & Hebble Navigation canal, the tranquil banks of the River Calder, the model village and viaducts of Copley, the world’s tallest folly at Wainhouse Tower and the mill dams of Warley Clough.
