Early morning here in Haworth. Sitting here writing by the window I can hear the cockerels in the field calling, our suffragette flag is fluttering in the breeze, deliveries are being made to the independent shops and cafes, there's a certain bustle about the place. We just had a delivery of five boxes of books! My next job is to open said boxes, price and display, not a chore but a delight. The hardest thing is not to get side tracked, reading, stroking or smelling the books! Just to focus and get my pigs in a row!
This week has been super busy with customers in our lovely shop, it was a bank holiday and the weather was just fabulous. Then I have been busy chatting to and booking interesting authors for the next months leading up to Christmas. In between serving and chatting to customers in the shop Ian has worked super hard putting all the events onto our website so you can get an in person ticket or a zoom link if you can't get here. We love that we have such a wonderful book loving community and can't wait to get back to our 'In Conversation' evenings. We do have a couple of free children's events still to come, one tomorrow with Harry Heape and the last one for the summer is on Sunday 7th September, which includes the author and the illustrator, who will be painting our window!
Right off to open boxes...
